We asked our friend Jermaine Griggs at Hear and Play to explain the difference between the great Song Robot software they created previously, and the new Song Tutor software, to make sure the difference is clear to our customers.

Jermaine delivered as he always does, and proved  to us once again that he cares about the products he creates, and wants to make sure his customers are always happy and their questions are answered.

Check out what Jermaine said below…

“How is Song Tutor different from your past release, Song Robot?”

Song Robot was created in 2007 and originally released only to members of the Gospel Music Training Center and other private training groups.

Years later, we opened it up to the public. It’s an awesome program that accepts midi files, shows the notes on a virtual keyboard, slows them down, and allows you to change the key.

Because of certain limitations back then, we only developed it for the PC (Windows). It did not work on the Mac.

For the first time ever, Song Tutor works on both the PC and Mac.

Song Tutor had to be written and redesigned from the ground up and one of the biggest differences and time-savers is that it is internet-powered, which means it has a built-in browser that allows you to search millions of files on the web to find and locate songs that you can load immediately into the program with the click of a button.

With Song Robot, you had to download each file on to your computer and open each one separately in the program. Song Tutor eliminates those extra steps, unlocking the power of the internet right in the program. Simply search google right inside the program for your favorite song, click on a link, and the song loads immediately.

Several unique features were introduced like “Single Step” mode, which allows you to freeze EACH and EVERY chord, melody, and individual notes, one-by-one, step-by-step.

For the first time ever, you fully control when to move on to the next chord.

Of course, you also have the ability to play the song while slowing it down to a mere 10% of the actual speed (I call it “Turtle Speed!”). But “Single Step” lets you go even slower than that, freezing each chord until you click forward to go to the next one.

Other additions include a sleek, elegant user-friendly design and interface, HD expandable keys, a more intuitive looping mode, browser mode, share mode (upload, share, and access songs from other users around the world), pause removal mode (for removing pauses from long shed sessions recorded via midi — advanced), recent history, and much more!
